JOHNNY GREYEYES

The story of JOHNNY GREYEYES moves both forward and backward in time as Johnny, a resilient and introspective Native-American lesbian, comes to terms with her recent release from prison. On the bus ride home she relives the events that led to her incarceration, her time spent behind bars, and the love and family she found there. Both in and out of prison, Johnny, beautifully played by Gail Maurice, struggles with familial love and obligation, romantic passion, and spiritual awareness. Director Jorge Manzano employs disparate styles and voices to tell this emotionally charged story, creating the first feature-length film focusing on Native American lesbians, in the process.
