CHRISSY

(bq)Chrissy is my best friend. She is wild, mischievous, private. When I first met her, I just wanted to rescue her. But that's not what she wanted. She wanted a friend.(eq) So begins filmmaker Jacqui North's moving account of the life of Christy May Napier, a vibrant young lesbian who contracted HIV in her late teens. Independent, authentic, and a die-hard Madonna fan, Chrissy was a refreshingly original human being and North's breakthrough documentary meticulously conveys the impact of her life and death on the people around her. In-depth interviews provide portraits of friends and family, most poignantly of a straight, swimsuit-model sister whose beliefs about AIDS change before our eyes. Free of sentimentality and cliché, CHRISSY, like its subject, is inspiring, distinctive, and true.

Followed by a presentation by Jeanne Marrazzo, MD,MPH, principle investigator of a NIH (National Institute of Health) funded community-based study on STD transmission between women.
