After her highly original first film WATERMELON WOMAN (1996), director Cheryl Dunye is back with the riveting STRANGER INSIDE. Yolonda Ross gives a stellar film debut performance as the troubled Treasure Lee who has spent most of her young life incarcerated. Treasure's primary concern is to find her "lifer" mother, Margaret "Brownie" Lee, from whom she was separated at birth. When she learns of an inmate named "Brownie" at the state penitentiary, Treasure becomes consumed by the desire to reunite with her mother, doing whatever necessary to graduate from juvenile hall to women’s prison. How far will she go to renew this relationship? Superb lead performances by Davenia McFadden as Brownie and Rain Phoenix as Treasure’s inmate rival Kit, as well as a fantastic cast of supporting characters, catapult this prison film above and beyond its genre.

Your donation can be made through Ticket Window in the same way that you would purchase a ticket.
