DON’T YOU WORRY, IT WILL PROBABLY PASS
(DU SKA NOG SE ATT DET GÅR ÖVER)
Broadway Performance Hall
Wednesday, October 22
5:00pm

As a teenager, director Cecilia Neant-Faulk placed a classified ad in a Swedish teen magazine seeking other girls interested in both boys and girls. Some fifteen years later, she placed the same advertisement to see how times had changed. Neant-Falk’s film follows three of the respondents as they approach adulthood and come to terms with their sexuality. Each of the girls is given a camera to record her own secret video diaries, and to interview her friends and families. We hear of hidden desires, anxieties about coming out, and the sometimes unexpected and deeply moving results as the girls journey from secrecy to openness. DON’T YOU WORRY, IT WILL PROBABLY PASS communicates candidly the melodrama and anxieties of adolescence, when every emotion is amplified and every incident seems a matter of life and death—particularly for lives lived in secret.

DON’T YOU WORRY, IT WILL PROBABLY PASS (DU SKA NOG SE ATT DET GÅR ÖVER); Cecilia Neant-Falk, director; 2002; Sweden; 74 minutes; video (in Swedish and English with English subtitles)
