Complete 2003 Festival Schedule
GASOLINE
(BENZINA)
Cinerama Theatre
Saturday, October 18
7:00pm
At
a gas station in Italy, young Lenni is forging a new life free from
her domineering mother, and is wildly in love with the tough and
sexy mechanic, Stella. When mother pays an unwanted visit, an argument
ensues and the unlucky lovers find themselves with an accidental
matricide on their hands. Disposing of the corpse is trickier than
they thought and sends them on what quickly becomes the road trip
from hell. Pursued by the voice of Lennis dead mother and
slimy homophobic punks, the girls struggle to hold onto their love
for each other amidst the panic and chaos. Director and co-writer
Monica Stambrini has created an urgent biker-chick noir film that
is one spark away from an explosion. Joining the ranks of THELMA
AND LOUISE and BUTTERFLY KISS, GASOLINE is the latest of the feminist
fury road flicks.
