A New York City modeling industry competition provides the backdrop for this ensemble teen drama. Pursuing their separate dreams as they sashay down the catwalk are India, a rich girl with acceptance issues; Charlie, who signed up for babe access; Tom, who is wrestling with his sexuality; and Southern Barbie doll look-alike Pammy. An imperious trio of bitchy catwalkers comprise the chorus, and things heat up when Jesse, from the gay boy posse, volunteers to help with Tom’s sexual exploration. Morally indifferent competition manager Edy LaFontaine (model Carol Alt) and modeling coach/mother-hen Mary-Mary (drag diva Hedda Lettuce) help these teens get through the contest, and realize that the fashion tourney isn’t everything. THE LOOK is an MTV-esque movie with camp, style, and a message that’s more than skin deep.
