A dead-on spoof of 1960s beach movies, PSYCHO BEACH PARTY kicks sand in the faces of squeaky-clean Frankie and Annette, in a camp-fest of teen angst, violence, and sexual deviance that we all knew was just under the surface of those summertime romps. Lauren Ambrose (“Six Feet Under”) stars as Chicklet, an earnest teenage girl who desperately wants to fit in with the beach crowd, and decides that learning to ride the waves from the resident surf guru (“Dharma And Greg”’s Thomas Gibson) is the key. But a mysterious psycho killer is on the loose, hacking up innocent victims, and Chicklet finds she needs to come up with an explanation for her blackouts (read: a Sybil-esque split-personality!). Adapted by Charles Busch from his popular off-Broadway play, the gleefully absurd PSYCHO BEACH PARTY makes a perfect Opening Night beach blanket buddy with DIE MOMMIE DIE!
