In Good Conscience

SISTER JEANNINE GRAMICK’S JOURNEY OF FAITH

Saturday, October 16, 12:00pm

Still feisty and faithful as ever, “rebel nun” Sister Jeannine Gramick stands up to church authorities in Rome on her quest to build bridges between the Church and the gay community. In this new documentary about her life’s work, directed and produced by award-winning journalist and filmmaker Barbara Rick, Gramick’s central message is clear: that lesbians and gays have a rightful place in the church just like everyone else. She repeats her doctrine of acceptance and love whether she is speaking to students on college campuses and in bookstores, trying to set up a face-to-face meeting with a Cardinal in Rome, or listening to angry anti-gay activists at a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. This journey of faith, full of purpose and good humor, compels viewers to examine the lengths that they would go to for their beliefs.
