This amusing cinematic mélange demonstrates
that life is a series of beginnings and endings, both random and
calculated… but it’s all good. In CARISMA, a well-known
cable news channel indirectly brings about a nasty breakup. A newly
unemployed woman receives increasingly bad news from loved ones
while spending a lot of time ON THE COUCH. The synchronized watersprites
of SINK OR SWIM didn’t make it to Athens this year, and BOOTY
DANCE isn’t an Olympic sport, but this delightful CGI analysis
of gay men’s and lesbians’ contrasting club techniques
deserves a gold medal. West Hollywood speaks up in TEXAS BULLSH!T,
and it’s STANDING ROOM ONLY for this delightfully droll showbiz
mockumentary. Finally, the “happy” ending of campy MEMOIRS
OF AN EVIL STEPMOTHER is, as in life, subjective.
