“If you dare... taste the deadly passion of
the blood-nymphs.” From the famed Hammer Studios in the UK
comes this eerie, lustful tale of vampires, virgins, and family
curses. Based on the short story CARMILLA, the film stars Ingrid
Pitt as Mircalla Karnstein, a sexy, mysterious vampire exacting
revenge for her family by seducing the daughters of England’s
upper crust—one nubile virgin at a time. When each young girl
takes ill, it is only Mircalla she wants, and only Mircalla who
can “save” her. THE VAMPIRE LOVERS launched the lesbian
vampire film craze of the 1970s and spawned a sequel and numerous
knock-offs. Severely censored when it was first released in the
US, it is presented here fully restored to its original erotic,
sapphically-charged and bloodthirsty state. THE VAMPIRE LOVERS is
ripe for queer camp reclamation!
