This year our fabulous queer film festival brings
many new and exciting things to the Seattle community -- including
me. My name is Rachael Brister, and I’m the new Festival Director.
Originally from Philadelphia, I spent the last decade in Rochester,
NY, most of that time working with film festivals. It has been a
pleasure getting to know Three Dollar Bill Cinema and learning how
important queer film is to the Seattle community. And I’m
very excited about what's in store for you over the next week.
An exciting addition to the film festival is a members line at
all of our venues. If you are a current member of Three Dollar Bill
Cinema you will be guaranteed early access to each film! Not a member?
for more information about becoming a member or visit our membership
table at every venue. Membership definitely has its privileges!
And I want to thank every one of our members for your support. Your
investment in the queer arts community truly does make a difference.
The Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival provides
the opportunity to celebrate our diverse lives and identities through
the powerful mediums of film and video. This year we are proud to
offer the biggest festival yet – and with 64 different programs
in 4 venues over 7 days you will find many films that will stimulate
and titillate; enrich and entertain. As is says on the bag, Freshly
Seasoned... with just enough spice!
The film festival could not happen without the generous
support of our sponsors. These local and national businesses
and organizations realize the importance of giving back to our community.
Please take note of these sponsors throughout the festival week,
and let them know how much you appreciate their support.
I’d personally like to thank our staff, board of directors
and dedicated volunteers. Without their energy, passion, and good
old-fashioned hard work, our films would never make it to the screen.
(And a special thank you to Justine Barda, former ED, who built
such a strong foundation and helped tremendously with my transition
to this new position.)
Last, but certainly not least, we want to thank you, our audience.
Your enthusiasm for the film festival makes our year-long effort
truly worthwhile. So sit back and enjoy the best in queer
film from around the world! |
