Former Olympic gymnast (with the body to prove it) Jane (Dreya Weber) drifts through life alternating between her mundane job as a masseuse and her loveless marriage. But after she runs into an old gymnastics teammate, something draws her back to the gym. There, Jane meets choreographer Nicole who not only recognizes Jane, but has a proposition for her: join her and her student in a Cirque du Soleil-inspired aerial act. With the flex of each muscle, Jane starts to come alive, reinvigorated by her passion for the sport. Equally inspiring is Serena (Addie Yungmee, pro dancer for Madonna and Cher), the lovely dancer who joins her atop the flowing fabric. While they perfect their act of strength and grace, the line between performance and reality begins to blur as their chemistry builds off-stage. Garnering LGBT film festival awards across the country, THE GYMNAST dazzles both the eyes and heart.
