Fed up with her wimpy boyfriend Wai, a young architect living in San Francisco, decides to get out of town by escorting her auntie Foon on a trip to China. In anticipation of the journey to her homeland, Foon recalls the love she lost there 50 years before. In an attempt to escape an impending marriage to a man she didn't like, Foon joined a women-only society and fell in love with the beautiful Wan (Carina Liu, who won best acting honors at Hong Kong Film Awards). We learn, through a series of flashbacks, the sweet and tragic story of their blossoming romance and painful separation.
The past collides with the present as Foon attempts to help Wai through the breakup of her tumultuous relationship while reliving the memory of her one true love. Beautifully shot and superbly acted, Intimates is a passionate portrayal of female love.
